متن نامه دکتر فدي نادر
دبير کل اتحاديه جهاني غارنوردي
Dear Saeed,
It is a very sad indeed. I was hoping that the Iranian cavers and mountaineers will face less losses, and yet another one during the same year. One mountaineer and one caver, this is a heavy bill paid by the courageous Iranian climbers and cavers.
First of all, I would like to send my sympathy and prayers to his family and friends. Then, I would like to tell you that Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns is the head of the Department of Protection of Caves and Karst at the UIS. Supporting his reply to you, he could write a formel letter to support your decision to get your friend's body out of the cave and to give it to the parents for proper burial.
You are absolutely right, that cave should not become a graveyard. This is psychological - as caving is not supposed to be in doomed places, and for the sake of pollution and contamination.
However, I understand that thesituation is not easy... we are in the mid of November, and the cave is at high altitude and in a place that probably the climate does not help. In addition, the pitches which I saw on the map are very narrow, and like you mentioned the body of the caver is big. Even, when the victim is still alive, in any cave-rescue the golden rule is not to risk the life of any other caver. I invite you and Javad to think about that issue. The worst would be that to get the body of your friend out, you severe another accident! This will not only cast an everlasting bad mark on you (vis-a-vis the government, officials, and the parents) but also will make out of this cave a Big Graveyard - as those who were supposed to be the best were inflcited as well.
I know, sometimes we are faced to take difficult decisions, but you know better how to take the wise ones.
We are here to help and support, and I hope that we will always be able to fullfill our words and promisses. This is also a good time, for all Iranian cavers to seek for unity and establish a signle unity that binds them for the good as well as for the bad and sad events.
Take care and always cave safely
Your friend fadi
